Hundreds of bank branches are closing in order to adjust to tough times. Most are focusing on reducing branches in locations deemed unattractive. To support these findings, The Wall Street Journal turned to SNL Financial data, showing that the total number of retail branches in the U.S. has decreased by 0.3% since June and will continue to decline in the near future.
