Senior Management
Patrick W. Bevack President and CEO
Mr. Bevack assumed responsibilities as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Community Financial Corp. on January 1, 2011, in addition to his current role as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Home Savings and Loan Company. Mr. Bevack, who joined Home Savings in 2000, was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank in 2009. He joined the UCFC Board in April 2010 and the Home Savings Board in January 2007. Mr. Bevack previously held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Home Savings. He also is a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive). Before joining Home Savings, Mr. Bevack served as Executive Vice President and Assistant Secretary at Metropolitan Bank & Trust. Earlier in his career, he held various executive positions with other regional financial institutions, and brings over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to UCFC.
James R. Reske Treasurer & CFO
Mr. Reske was hired as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of both United Community Financial Corp. ('UCFC') and Home Savings and Loan Company ('Home Savings') in May of 2008. In June 2011, Mr. Reske was promoted to Executive Vice President of Home Savings, but he remains the CFO and Treasurer of UCFC. Prior to joining UCFC, Mr. Reske was employed by KeyBanc Capital Markets, Inc. from 2002 to May of 2008. While there, he focused on providing strategic advice to community banks and thrifts in the Midwest regarding capital structure, acquisitions, raising capital and financial management.
Jude J. Nohra General Counsel & Secretary
Mr. Nohra joined Home Savings in 2004 as its Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, as well as Secretary for UCFC. He was promoted in July 2009 to Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Home Savings and General Counsel & Secretary for UCFC. Prior to joining Home Savings, he practiced law for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. in Cleveland as an associate in its Corporate Department, and as a law clerk for The Honorable Paul R. Matia, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Before practicing as an attorney, Mr. Nohra practiced as a Certified Public Account (currently inactive).

Richard J. Schiraldi Chairman of the Board
Mr. Schiraldi is a Certified Public Accountant and has been a partner at Cohen & Company, Certified Public Accountants, Youngstown, Ohio, since 1990. Mr. Schiraldi served as Director of Tax Operations at Cohen from 1983 until 2003. Mr. Schiraldi also serves as Chairman of The Home Savings and Loan Company.
Marty E. Adams
Eugenia C. Atkinson
Mrs. Atkinson was the Executive Director of Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority from 2000 until her retirement in 2007. Mrs. Atkinson also serves as a director of The Home Savings and Loan Company.
Richard J. Buoncore
Mr. Buoncore is a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive)and a managing partner of MAI Wealth Advisors, LLC, Cleveland, Ohio, a position he has held since December 2006. Previously, Mr. Buoncore was Managing Partner of BC Investment Partners LLC, which merged into MAI Wealth Advisors, a position he had held since 2005. From 1999 until 2005, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Victory Capital Management, Cleveland, Ohio, and served as its President and Chief Operating Officer from 1995 until 1999. Mr. Buoncore was elected by the United Community Financial Corp. (“UCFC”) Board of Directors in January 2007. Mr. Buoncore also serves as a director of The Home Savings and Loan Company.
Lee J. Burdman
Mr. Burdman is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Redstone Investments. Redstone is a development, management and acquisitions company focusing on shopping center development headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. Burdman has been involved in the real estate business for more than 25 years, and he serves on the Boards of Directors of Simco Management Corp. and Cardinal Commerce Corporation. His extensive experience started with Burdman Brothers Companies (a family-held real estate development firm based out of Youngstown, Ohio). Mr. Burdman also serves as a Director of The Home Savings and Loan Company.
Scott N. Crewson
Mr. Crewson retired from BP in 2008, after having served the company over 27 years in a variety of executive level positions, including most recently that of Deputy Director, Business Development in London England. He joined the UCFC and Home Savings Boards of Directors in 2009.
The Honorable Scott D. Hunter
Judge Hunter currently serves as a Mahoning County Area Court Judge, Judge of the Mahoning County Misdemeanor Drug Court, managing member of Hunter-Stevens Land Title Agency, LTD and maintains a private law practice. He previously served as associate and partner of the Davis & Davis Law Firm. He joined the UCFC and Home Savings Boards of Directors in 2009.
Dr. David C. Sweet
Dr. Sweet was the President of Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio from 2000 until his retirement in June 2010. From 1978 until July 2000, he was the founding Dean and a Professor of the College of Urban Affairs – Cleveland State University. From 1975 to 1978, he was a Commissioner with the Ohio Public Utilities Commission, responsible for regulation of electric, natural gas, telephone and other utilities. From 1971 to 1974, he was the Director of the Ohio Department of Development, responsible for the State’s economic and community development programs.
